ART ILLUSTRATION-THE FAMILY X DAY OUT | BY MIABO ENYADIKE

                        Art illustration-Family:Ink/Marker:by Miabo Enyadike
Sitting and having lunch in a restaurant sometime ago and minding my own business...

I noticed a family walk in from the corner of my eye, and watched them slowly settle in a table opposite mine.

It was one of those lazy afternoons I had nothing to do and just wanted to chill out.

So doing nothing, my eyes were busy taking note of everything around me whilst I had my drink.

It was interesting, to watch this family of four, the mother who obviously, looked like she needed a break and the father who could not hide his frustration, about anything and everything.

They had this cute daughter who ran the show. She really was joyfully naughty definitely getting under the skin of her dad, thank goodness not her mum who was bent on ignoring her tantrums.

The other member of the family a teenage boy between the age of 14 and 16 I could not really tell, had his entire attention on his phone totally oblivious of what was going on around his person.

I watched underneath my eyelids, enjoying every moment of this family's outing and glad to be out alone.

As a mother of 2 teenage kids and a 6 yr old, I could understand why the mother of those kids, needed a break and left their father to attend to the kids.

It's a scene, that is all too familiar to me and plays out each time we are out as a family.

Anything the kids say or need, I just point my finger, to their father and say ask daddy!.

I decided to capture this scene and of course relieved that I was not in it.

I  brought out my pen from my bag, after I had asked for my bill, and quickly sketched the facial expressions, of this family on a spare napkin on my table.

I later made a mixed media illustration painting of it later that afternoon.......Enjoy.
