Textile Abstract Art 'Tears That Keep Flowing' | Artmiabo

Tears That Keep Flowing

Abstract Art and Art Storytelling come hand in hand, I tell stories that I have seen happen, read about or have had a similar experience through abstract Art.

To me it really doesn't matter much what style or expression I use to interpret my stories, I use what is available to me and try to make the best out out it.

Hence the use of textiles for this Art project.
Fabric cut offs for me, its just like a dog and a bone. I love, to collect fabrics samples and cut offs.

My ears are fastened to the ground, for any information on fabric cutoffs.

My last batch of textiles, came from a charity store, down the road. I took advantage, of the fact that I'm known there already, to choose the best, right inside the managers store room/office.

I descended on brocade, cotton, poly cotton, jersey and good linen textile cut offs with great pleasure!
This time around, I was going to create contemporary art, with these textile cut offs.

Patience, had to be brought in as well as endurance, these two had to play a part in this new adventure, I was about to embark on.

I mean I am no stranger to contemporary textile art, I am familiar with the  brilliant works of quite a few of the artists, who are masters in this art.

I just have never seen myself doing it, it just felt right for me at this point to try it.

I said to myself, its needle and thread right! but found out later its much more than that.

It is the raw emotions of the artist being interpreted with textile, expressing or silently voicing out an event or situation that is all too familiar.

Why I titled this Artwork   'TEARS THAT KEEP FLOWING'-1&2.

I did so, as I have come to observe both as an artist and human being that there is simply a continuous good or bad occurrence in our lives, due to no fault of ours they just happen and break us no matter how resilient we may seem.

If it is not us directly, then its someone we know or someone else.

These works of mine, are about tears that just keeping flowing for disasters that stem from disease out breaks,
natural deaths, loss of a child, loss of a spouse, multiple deaths from plane crashes, natural disasters and victims of human trafficking.

Others include Boat mishaps for refugees, xenophobic attacks, political killings, insane wars against humanity, destruction of ancient artifacts, rape, extortion, unjustified killings, the list just goes on and on.

Every morning that we are blessed and privileged to experience a new day, if the tears are not running down our faces, we are grateful and thankful.

We know, deep down in our hearts it is favor, from the lord because out there somewhere, there are tears that are flowing.....Enjoy.
