THE SIGNIFICANCE OF FLORAL PAINTINGS ...

Imagine this earth without color or without flowers...
It may sound corny but it could happen, with all the fires going on and climate change. Remember the most deserts weren't always like that!

I keep wondering how the loss of vegetation in the certain parts of the planet will affect flowers growing.

As a fine artist of over 28 years my art has always been about nature, people and events. I am inspired by these things and lately climate change.

Watching on cable news as fires ravages different parts of the world is frightening and nerve-racking, it is devastating to see and hear the loss of lives and everything.

To truly appreciate the gravity of it all as an artist living in Africa, I stepped into my small garden and stared at my plants and flowers and tried to imagine it all gone not because of seasons but a natural disaster.

Instantly I knew and felt the significance of color, life, and flowers to say the least...

Art is meant to be enjoyed and loved. It is strictly in the eyes of the beholder and their ability to understand the art they are witnessing is an art form in itself.

Abstract art is always viewed differently opinions rest solely with the audience it just has to speak to them at that moment striking a cord within their minds only then does it make sense.

I paint color driven abstracts for these reasons mentioned above to stir up emotions and conversations that relate to how art makes us feel.

I have curated an online gallery of my latest Abstract flower paintings with regards to the Joy and Beauty flowers bring to our lives, just imagine the world without flowers as the bush fires burn relentlessly in destroying nature and animals, claiming lives and rendering thousands of people homeless.

Just imagine all these beautiful flowers no more, just heaps of ashes and burnt down trees, we really must fight for our planet to keep nature's flower gardens and vegetation intact.

This abstract floral painting was made with Ink and watercolor paints, the Ink paint is water based also and the paper used for the painting is watercolor smooth paperboard.

To get the richness of color, I combined the Ink and watercolor together to create the rich tones on the vase.

The whole painting is meant to remind us about the power of flowers in our lives...Enjoy
